Robert (Bob) Troy Guthrie of Frisco, TX was born in Kansas City, Kansas February 8, 1950. The good Lord called him home on September 15th, 2013 after he fought a courageous 11 month battle with pancreatic cancer. Visitation will be from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 21st with the Funeral Service starting at 10:00 a.m. at the Antioch Church (5201 Antioch Rd. Overland Park, KS. 66202) Burial will follow in the Maple Hill Cemetery.
He is preceded in death by his Father Troy Guthrie. He is survived by his wife of 43 years Barbara Guthrie and two faithful sons Michael Guthrie and wife Toni of Basehor, KS and Stephen Guthrie and wife Christie of Frisco, TX, his mother Delores Patterson and step father Gene Patterson of Trinity FL, two sisters Donna Clauder of Kansas City, KS and Judy Robbins of Clearwater, FL, his six grandchildren, Michael II, Brittni, Bryce, Brianna, Payton, and Micah Guthrie.
Bob Guthrie graduated from Washington high school in 1968. He served in the Army National Guard for 6 years from 1969-1975. He worked for Proctor and Gamble for 25 years in Kansas City, KS. During his lifetime, he owned several business’s including a Tae Kwon Do academy where his was the chief instructor for 11 years. For the last 4.5 years he worked for Camden Property Trust in which he most recently he held the position of Maintenance Manager at the Camden Panther Creek location.
Bob was the spiritual leader of the family and has passed his faith on to his sons Michael, Stephen and their children. He always enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was known for visiting the sick and offering them encouragement. He was never without a beloved pet and he leaves behind his two black labs (Lucy & Bridgette).
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to his wife Barbara Guthrie to help with final expenses in care of the Alden-Harrington Funeral Home, 214 Oak St. Bonner Springs, KS. 66012 913-422-4074
