Obituary

Mary K. Janesko, age 95, of Kansas City, KS., passed away peacefully in her home on Saturday, December 28, 2019. Visitation will be from 2-3 pm followed by a Memorial Mass beginning at 3 pm, on Friday, January 3rd, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 1100 West St. in Tonganoxie, KS. Burial of her Cremated Remains will be at a later date in the Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Kansas City, KS. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions to the St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
Mary was born on May 23, 1924 at her family’s farm in Marshall, MO. She was the oldest of three children born to Leverette & Myra (LaRue) Marsh. Mary grew up in Marshall where she attended school and graduated from Marshall High School. As a young woman she moved to Kansas City where she met, and later married, John W. Janesko. They made their home in Kansas City, KS where they raised their five children. Mary was a longtime member of Christ the King Parish in Kansas City, KS. Her husband John passed away in 1970 and Mary dedicated herself to raising her young family. Later in life she cared for her Mother for many years. Mary loved to read, listen to Elvis Presley, and watch the KC Chiefs (she even knew the Tomahawk Chop).
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, an infant brother, her husband John, and her son John Janesko, Jr.
Survivors include her four children; Marsha Connell of Tempe, AZ., (twins) Kathryn Janesko of Kansas City, KS., and Marie Campbell (husband David) of Tonganoxie, KS., and James Janesko (wife Mary Thompson) of Tonganoxie, KS; brother Glenn Marsh and his wife Pat of Marshall, MO; six Grandchildren, five Great-Grandchildren and one Great-Grandson on the way as well as several other extended family and many friends.
Mary loved people. She was always interested in hearing everyone's life stories and knowing all about their families. She loved to watch the birds at the bird feeders in her front yard and especially enjoyed seeing cardinals. She loved to dress nicely everyday with her matching outfits, bracelets, pins, lipstick and perfume. She was a special, loving woman and her family and friends will always keep her in their hearts.

I was one of Mary’s caregivers for several months. She was a very loving woman and she always asked about my family with interest. She enjoyed our conversations and talking about her trips to Memphis to visit Graceland,as she was a great fan of Elvis. Mary was a very sweet lady who loved her family. I will miss spending time with her.

Mrs. Mary loved her family with all her heart. Her children were her everything. It was absolutely a pleasure watching her children care for her as she grew older. It was hilarious watching her being told what to do by her children, especially James, she'd call him honery to get him back. Oh, the laughs in her home were constant and fulfilling. She showed how to honor and cherish your elders, a lesson that'll never be forgotten.
I Love you deeply Mrs. Mary.

I've had the pleasure of caring for a beautiful older soul, Mrs. Mary, for at least 3 years. She loved talking, reading, listening, Elvis, holidays, The Voice, the Cheifs, laughing and telling jokes, giving advice, looking good, smelling good, helping me cook, meeting people, saying 'I love you', going for rides then out to eat, being kind and just being an overall great friend. My children and I will miss her dearly.
You are loved, Mrs. Mary.
Love always, Desiree, Rufus, Mia and Lamar Jr.
