Obituary for Jodell "Jodi" Shelton-Langley (Shelton)

Jodell "Jodi"  Shelton-Langley (Shelton)
“Jodi” Shelton-Langley, age 50, of Bonner Springs, KS. passed away on Dec. 16th, 2014. A Celebration of her life will be held 11:00 a.m., Dec. 27th at the Christ First Ministries, 229 North Neconi, Bonner Springs, KS. Memorial contributions can be made to the Alden-Harrington Funeral Home to help her family with final expenses.

Jodi Shelton-Langley was born July 11, 1964 in Kansas City, Kansas, to Dale and Irene Shelton (née Anderson). She is survived by her daughter, Jessica, along with many other loved ones. As a child she was active in Girl Scouts, gymnastics, and tap dancing. She graduated from Bonner Springs High School in 1982. Shortly after, she went into business collecting and selling antiques, owning and operating Jodi's Collectors Corner, in downtown Bonner Springs. For which she received the "Small Business Owners Award" in 1992. Jodi was active in her daughter's upbringing, winning the Parent-Teacher Association's "Room-Mother of the Year Award," helping coach little league softball, and serving as a YouthFriend, reading to elementary school students. Jodi received an Associates Degree from Kansas City Kansas Community College, as well as a Bachelors Degree in Applied Sciences from Washburn University; she was first in her family to graduate from college. Jodi was a master gardener, an avid learner, and known for walking Nettleton Avenue with her pug, Tootles. As a public servant and advocate, she donated much of her time and resources to helping the homeless and single parents. She will be remembered for her vivacious spirt and one-of-a-kind personality.
