Obituary for William Fred "Bill" Trout

William Fred "Bill" Trout
William “Bill” Fred Trout, age 62, passed away at his childhood home on June 21, 2018 in the company of his family. Bill had been battling COPD and lung cancer for many years and he fought hard all the way to the end. A celebration of Bill’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. at the Alden-Harrington Funeral Home in Bonner Springs, KS on Friday, July 6. The family will receive visitors from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. A private interment ceremony will be held at the Bonner Springs Cemetery.

Bill was born March 19, 1956 in Kansas City, KS where he lived most of his young life and attended Washington High School. After High School he went on to serve his country in the US Marine Corps.
He later married Kim Barton, moved to Olathe, and had two daughters Emily and Ashley. Bill was a Police officer with the Merriam Police Department from 1983 – 1997. The numerous awards and letters of recognition not only from civilians but also many from his police Chief, tell a story of a man that truly gave his heart to so many. Bill participated in many organized activities through the police department such as Optimist Bicycle Rodeo, DARE, and McGruff. He has multiple certificates of completion for extra training courses one of which is Juvenile Fire Setting class….he even wanted to help the fire bugs! He enjoyed cruising on his motorcycle with his buddies, music, and learning about new things. Bill knew a little about a lot so it was always good conversation; he also knew he had two ears and one mouth. You could talk to him about anything and he would always have an ear to lend. Bills most recent career was with Pride Cleaners. For the last 10 years he served his community as a driver. Bill loved this job, he took great pride in what he did, he was always on time, and though he was very sick on multiple occasions he always made it to work. He took weekend shifts so that the younger kids wouldn’t have too. He dearly missed his job when he had to resign last August.
Bill was preceded in death by his father, William H Trout; niece Laura Dawn Allbee; paternal grandparents, Fred and Delores Trout, maternal grandparents C.E. and Bettie M. Barrickman.
He is survived by his two daughters Emily Trout and Ashley Trout; mother, Jane Ann (Barrickman) Trout; sisters, Julie (Tom) Reilly, Jennifer (Jay) Allbee, Jill Trout, Jade (John) Ellcey, and Autumn (Gabriel) Agoro; grandchildren Serenity Ray-Ann Phillips, Austin G. Henry, and Cooper E. Rash; nieces, nephews and extended family.
