Obituary for Jerry Lee "Curly" Young
Jerry “Curly” Lee Young, age 74, of Tonganoxie, Kansas passed away on Thursday, August 2nd, 2018 at his home while surrounded by his family. Visitation will be Saturday, August 4th from 10-11 am with Services starting at 11:00 am. at the Basehor United Methodist Church, burial to immediately follow at the Holy Angels Cemetery. Memorial Contributions can be made to the Midwest Transplant Network.
Jerry was born on October 21st, 1943 in Cape Girardeau, Missouri as the third of five children born to Lloyd J. & Mildred A. (Mungle) Young. He married Patricia Kay Botkin on December 30, 1960 in Piper, Kansas. Jerry worked at CertainTeed Saint-Gobain plant in Kansas City, Kansas, retiring after 42 years. He loved riding his Harley-Davidson, working on his yard, and various projects in his shop. Jerry was an avid outdoors-man and in his younger years he enjoyed hunting and fishing. Above all, he enjoyed time spent with his family, friends and especially his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his Parents, one sister Barbara J. Steele and one grandson David C. Young.
Survivors include his wife Pat K. Young of the home. Three children; David L. Young (Paula Lauer) of LaCygne, KS. (Debbie Young) of Olathe, KS., Larry S. (Tamara) Young of Tonganoxie, KS., and Randy A. Young of Basehor, KS. Three siblings; Carl W. (Jennifer) Young of Basehor, KS., JoAnn Yazel of Weston, MO., and Ronnie Young of Kansas City, KS., Seven grandchildren; Brandon (Katie), Shannon, Trevor, Clinton (Ashley), Chelsie (Brandon), Justin (Lyndon), and Lane (Alex). Four great-grandchildren; Briona, Lilly, Caiden and Melanie. As well as a host of extended family and friends.
