James “Jim” F. Burton, age 81, of Piper, Kansas passed away on Wednesday, September 7th, 2016 at his home. As per Jim’s wishes, no service is planned.

Jim was born on July 16, 1935 in Bethel, Kansas to Harley and Hazel Burton. He married Rosemary Filbert on June 26, 1955 at the Wolcott Baptist Church in Wolcott, KS. Jim was a truck driver with the local teamsters union, driving for Schock Transfer in Kansas City, KS. When the kids were younger, Jim enjoyed traveling and camping with his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters Harlene Lambert and Barbara Trader. Survivors include his wife Rosemary of the home, five children; Patty Walker, Jim Burton, II and wife Monica, Tim Burton, Missy Roberts and husband John, and Chris “Cooky” Burton. One sister Marie Hendrickson, seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, and a host of extended family and friends.
