Obituary for Floyd M. Cox

Floyd M. Cox
Floyd M. Cox, 75, of Bonner Springs Kansas passed away peacefully on December 15, 2018 at home with his loving wife and family by his side. He was born on July 25, 1943 in St. Joseph Michigan, a graduate of Benton Harbor High School (‘62). A long time railroader with the CSX who loved working the train depot and river trestle in St. Joseph and finished his career with CSX in Baltimore Maryland.
Patricia C. (Bradford) Cox his wife of 53 years will dearly miss him as will his children, grandchildren, family and friends. He was a man of few words but was a loyal friend to many, and was always there if you needed a hand, a laugh or just someone to give you a ride. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, golf and softball and loved watching his grandchildren enjoying whatever sport they participated in. Just being with family and friends made him happy and whenever he could beat them in a card game or board game (by any means necessary) made his day.
Survivors include: his wife Patricia C. (Bradford) Cox, Bonner Springs KS; son, Jeffrey A. (Jennie) Cox, Bonner Springs KS; daughter Rebecca L. (Bruce) Abrams, Paw Paw MI; grandchildren Brittney M. Mulka, Phoenix MD, Cody H. Cox and Shelby K. Cox, Bonner Springs KS; sister Doris Key, Clearwater FL, and many nieces and nephews, grand and great grand nieces and nephews who all loved to hear Uncle Floyd was coming to town! He will forever be remembered by his family and dear friends both near and far and his grand-dog Holly who was by his side in his final moments.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Theron Fay and Natalie O. (Wendt) Cox; brother Ted Cox; sister Deloris Cox.
The family would like to thank all the staff who cared for him at Shawnee Mission Medical Center, his longtime doctors and their staff who patiently cared for him during his illness and the wonderful Vitas Hospice staff.
A casual Celebration of Life will be held at the family home on January 6th, 2019 at 2pm. 921 Elk Lane, Bonner Springs KS 66012. Please come and share in our celebration of Floyd’s life.
