Obituary for Lawrence Smith

Lawrence  Smith
Lawrence Smith, age 75 of Basehor, Kansas passed
away on Thursday May 9, 2013 at his home. A
Memorial Visitation will be Thursday May 16, 2013
from 5pm to 7pm at Alden-Harrington Funeral Home;
214 Oak Street; Bonner Springs, Kansas 66012.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial
contributions to the Kansas City Hospice House or the
Ronald McDonald House both in care of the Alden-
Harrington Funeral Home.

Lawrence was born on December 29,1937 the only
child to Arch and Ava (Perkey) Smith in Harrison,
Arkansas. He received his Bachelor's Degree from
Central Missouri State University and his Master’s
Degree in Education from the University of Kansas.
He found his calling, becoming a teacher and
later, principal at Piper Unified School District
#203, where he stayed for 38 years until he retired.
Lawrence married his high school sweetheart Fredia
Ree Landrum on December 21,1957 in Jasper, Ar.
Lawrence and Fredia were partners in the Farm Market
on Highway 7 and Polfer Road. He was preceded
in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife
Fredia Ree Smith of the home, three children Chris
Smith and wife Janet of Kansas City, Mo., Phil Smith
and wife Margaret of Basehor, KS. LaRee Christiansen
and husband Mike of Fontana, KS., 6 grandchildren,
5 great-grandchildren including Madison Smith,
with whom he shared an especially close relationship.
