Obituary for Mark F. Payne

Mark F.  Payne
Mark Frank Payne, age 63, of Basehor, Kansas went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Wednesday, May 3rd, 2017. Funeral Service will be 11am Wednesday, May 10th at the First Baptist Church of Basehor (1410 N. 155th St.) burial will follow in the Glenwood Cemetery. His family will receive friends, at a visitation from 5 to 8pm Tuesday, May 9th also at the church. To honor Mark’s deep faith, memorial contributions can be made, in his name, to the First Baptist Church of Basehor.
Mark was born on June 22, 1953 in Kansas City, Kansas and graduated from Turner High School in 1971. He was the first of three sons born to Frank L. Payne, Jr. and Caroline (Deichler) Payne. Mark enjoyed Martial Arts and earned a 7th Degree Black Belt in the Bushidokan Karate System. He fought all over the United States as a point fighter, earning numerous tournament victories. Mark later transitioned into full-contact Karate and was ranked as high as 5th in the World, in his weight class. His career in karate spanned over 40 years. Mark worked as a Correctional Officer at Lansing Correctional Facility for over 25 years. He was a devoted Christian and was a dedicated member for over 20 years at the First Baptist Church of Basehor.
Mark was preceded in death by his mother Caroline (Deichler) Payne. Survivors include his wife, of 28 years, Patti (Jobert) Payne, and one son Mike, both of the home, his father Frank L. Payne, Jr. and friend Sue Ryan of Basehor, KS., two brothers; Jeff Payne and fiancée Marti of Edwardsville, KS., and Doug Payne and wife Angie of Basehor, KS., brother-in-law Robert Jobert of Wichita, KS., sister-in-law Vikki Reich and Luisa of Minnesota, three nieces; Courtney, Morgan and Zeca and one nephew Miguel. As well as a host of extended family and friends.
