Obituary for Leon Riley

Leon  Riley
Leon Riley, age 90, of Basehor, Kansas passed away on Wednesday, March 22, 2017. Visitation 11am-Noon and Funeral Noon, both Saturday, March 25 at the Alden-Harrington Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Elm Grove Cemetery.
Leon was born on April 16, 1926 in Buckhart, Missouri. He served his country, for over 10 years in the U.S. Army during WWII, during his service he was stationed in Japan, Austria, Germany and France. At the time of his discharge in 1955, he had obtained the rank of, Sergeant First Class. Leon served in the Honor Guard for the parade of General Eisenhower leaving Europe, and was proud to say he personally met General Eisenhower. Upon returning from the Service he worked at the Saddle & Sirloin Club, CertainTeed Saint-Gobain in Fairfax, and was a Machine Operator at Richardson Foods in Bonner Springs. In his retirement he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and his wife of 51 years, Carolee. Some of his favorite pastimes included Hunting and Fishing with his friends and family.
Leon was preceded in death by his parents Luther and Lila Riley, eight siblings; Clabe, Jess, Walter, Dewitt, Doris, Paul and two infant sisters. Survivors include his wife Carolee, three sons; Greg Riley and wife Diana of Bonner Springs, KS., Joseph Riley and wife Shannon of McLouth, KS., Jason Riley and wife Sheldon of Tonganoxie, KS., nine grandchildren, one great-grandson, one brother Bud Riley and wife Molly, one sister Elsie McIntosh, and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and beloved friends.
