Obituary for Sharon L. Colgan

Sharon  L.  Colgan
Sharon L. Colgan, age 68, of Edwardsville, KS., went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, Dec. 29th, 2016. A Celebration of her life will be 3:00 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 8th, 2017 at the Edwardsville Christian Church. The family will greet friends at a visitation from 2-3 prior to the service also at the church. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions to the Edwardsville Christian Church.

Sharon was born on Jan. 9th, 1948 in Flagstaff, AZ and had also lived in Roswell, NM., Mt. Pleasant, TX., Hawthorne, MD., Phenix City, AL., and Monterey, CA. She met her husband John P. Colgan in Monterey, CA., while he was stationed there at Fort Ord in the US Army. They were married in Santa Cruz, CA in 1963 and returned to Edwardsville where they lived their entire married life and raised their family. Over the years Sharon was a Avon Independent Consultant, Homemaker and had worked at multiple Day Cares for many years as a Teacher and Assistant Director, currently she was working as the secretary at the Edwardsville Christian Church. Sharon was the Co-Founder and President of C.M.M. (Christian Music Ministries), a member of the Mo-Kan Gospel Association, CGMA (Country Gospel Music Association, Loyal Order of Moose Lodge, was a past member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and the Edwardsville PTA. She had performed as a Gospel Singer at many churches, venues and events throughout her lifetime, praising God and spreading the Love of Jesus Christ through her music ministry. Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, Odus and Lillie Perkins, sisters; Maida Ruth Perkins, Brooksie Williamson, Ammere Lattie and Gloria Stream, her husband John P. Colgan and one son Kenneth Colgan. Survivors include her daughter Buffie Colgan of Edwardsville, KS., Grandson Patrick Colgan of Edwardsville, KS., sisters-in-law Alice Neal of Edwardsville, KS., and Martha Colgan of Athens, AL., brother-in-law Jerry Stream of Fort Meyers, FL. 18 nieces and nephews, 38 great-nieces and nephews and many, many great-great nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.
