Obituary for Emma Louise Sprung (Strutz)

Emma Louise Sprung, 90, of Bonner Springs, KS passed away on Wed. Aug. 17, 2016 at her daughter’s home. Visitation from 10 to 11 am and Funeral at 11 am, Wed., Aug. 24th at the Bonner Springs Nazarene Church, 742 N. Nettleton in Bonner Springs, KS. Burial will follow at a later date in Bonner Springs Cemetery. The family suggests memorial contributions to Hope Spay and Neuter, Inc. 728 B Cherokee St. Leavenworth, KS 66048. Mrs. Sprung was born Dec. 24, 1925 in Lamoure, ND the oldest of ten children to George and Edna Bergstrom Strutz. She met and married her husband Charles N.A. Sprung in 1948 and in the next 17 years had twelve children. She spent her life raising her children, and was proud of her meal making ability and that they always had meat at each of their meals. She was a Cook for both boy and girl scout summer camps for many years and was a Cook and Baker at Bonner Elementary for over 20 years. After retirement she and her husband started raising Dachshunds and attending field trial competitions until her husband Charles N.A. passed in 2000. She had buried her parents, her husband and five of her children, but never lost faith in the future. She is survived by seven children Meri O’Hare, Edmund A. Sprung, James R. Sprung, Elizabeth Call, George G. Sprung, August W. Sprung and Jon Paul Sprung. 30 grandchildren and 47 great grandchildren.
