Virginia L.  Ballew
Virginia L. Ballew, 88, of Bonner Springs, KS died Sat., June 25, 2016 at Hillside Village Nursing Home in DeSoto, KS. Memorial Mass services will be 10 am, Wed., July 6 at Holy Angels Catholic Church in Basehor, KS with entombment to follow in Gate of Heaven Mausoleum in K.C., KS. Visitation 6 to 7 pm, and Rosary at 7 pm, Tue., July 5, at the Alden-Harrington Funeral Home in Bonner Springs, KS. The family suggests memorial contributions to the Holy Angels Catholic Church Adoration Chapel Fund.
Virginia was born on June 25, 1928 in Marshall, Missouri. She grew up in Marshall and moved to Bonner Springs in 1956. She was a member of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Bonner Springs for over 50 years, where she was a cook for their school and was also a member of the Altar Society and St. Teresa's Circle. Later in life she worked at Brewer's Thriftway in Bonner Springs. Virginia enjoyed Bingo, Nascar, Playing cards and loved traveling to the Southwest U.S. to visit family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband of over 60 years, Gene "Pappy" Ballew in 2011. Survivors include her three children; Jerri Gander (Jim) of Bonner Springs, KS., Jimmy Ballew (Vivica) of Bonner Springs, KS., and Jan Brickey (Bob) of Shawnee, KS., two sisters; Evelyn Conn of Bonner Springs, KS., and Bonnie Caldwell of Jacksonville, IL., seven grandchildren; Jennifer, Jason, Jill, Aaron, Josh, Jeffery and Jessica, six great-grandchildren; Jackson, Jeremy, Jessie, Paige, Nate and Jacob.
