Barbara L Stafos (Meulmester), age 76, of Bonner Springs, KS died peacefully on Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at home sitting on her favorite couch from natural causes due to heart issues. Friends may call on Saturday, March 7 from 4-5. A short service at 5:00pm. will be officiated by The Reverend Dr Kevin Huddleston of St Michael and All Angels at the Harrington Funeral Home. There will be a private interment of her ashes. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to St Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church, Mission, KS.

Barbara was born on October 27, 1938 in Kansas City, KS. She attended Bishop Ward High School. She married John Stafos on August 1, 1969. She worked at Whirlpool, in the Treasurer’s Office in Kansas City Kansas, at the St. Joseph’s Nursing Home in the accounting department and ended her career as the Treasurer of the City of Edwardsville. You could tell she pushed pencils all her life when you saw her writing hand. She was fiercely independent and imbued that trait in her daughters. Her interests varied over the years; travel, cooking, canning, crafts, reading, gardening, taking care of her beloved dachshund and husband, John, puzzles, lunching with old high school friends., enjoying retirement.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Joyce A Sedorcek, her parents, Robert and Julia Meulmester; her brother, John Meulmester and her niece Susan Mathis. Survivors include her husband of 45 years, John Stafos; her daughter Debbie (Bill) Kremers of Shawnee, KS and their 4 boys Adam, Kyle, Neal and Alec; her sister, Diane (Ken) Mathis of Mena, AR, her brother Richard Meulmester of KCK, step-daughter Kathy Stafos of Edmond, OK and her three children Melinda, Cara, and Rickey plus numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.
