Obituary for Kenneth Edward Stevens

Kenneth Edward  Stevens
Kenneth Edward Stevens, age 73 of the Piper area of Kansas City, Kansas passed away on Friday April 4th, 2014 at Shawnee Mission Medical Center. Funeral Services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday April 9th at the Alden-Harrington Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Kansas City, Kansas. The family will receive friend at a visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday evening also at the funeral home.

Kenny was born on June 18, 1940 in Allerton, Iowa to Kenneth and Willa Stevens and grew up in the Kansas City, Kansas area. Kenny served 4 years in the U.S. Navy from 1958-1962. He married Mary Lou (Burns) Stevens on November 23, 1963. Kenny retired from Colgate Palmolive in 1992 after 28 years. His hobbies included building cars, welding and reading, and spending time with family and friends. Kenny was preceded in death by his parents and his wife. Survivors include his three children Shawn Stevens (Shelley) of Basehor, KS., Shannon Stevens of Tonganoxie, KS., Kelly Ryder (Jerry) of Basehor, KS., and Susan McKinzie his companion of the home; two sisters Ardith Slote of Tonganoxie, KS., Patricia Dennison (Norris) of Kansas City, KS., and one brother Ralph Stevens of Overland Park, KS., six grandchildren and several honorary grandchildren.
