TWILA J. WILLIAMS
Twila June Bond Williams, age 88, of Bonner Springs, KS passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 29, 2017 at her home. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 pm, Fri., Sept. 1, and Funeral will be at 11 am, Sat., Sept. 2, both at the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) 148 N. Nettleton in Bonner Springs, KS. The family suggests memorial contributions to the Church. Twila was born June 20, 1929 in Douglas County, KS and has lived in this area most of her life. Twila worked for many years as a Shipping Clerk for the Lonestar Cement Manufacturing Plant in Bonner Springs until it closed. She also had worked as a Grocery Clerk for both Safeway and A&P Grocery Stores. She was a D.E.C.A. National Award Winner. Mostly she loved to learn throughout her entire life by being a voracious reader and a world traveler as well. Having traveled to Russia, China, Norway, Europe, Malaysia and Singapore to name a few, staying in Elder Hostels along the way. She was a member of the Bonner Springs First Christian Church where she had served as a Stephens Minister and an Elder. She was formerly a member of the First Central Church of the Brethren. She had volunteered at the Franklin Center for many years. And was a charter member of the B.E.A.S. (Bonner Edwardsville Area Singles) and a member of Phi Theta Kappa. She was preceded in death by one son Donald E. Tate in 1992 and is survived by four daughters Georgia Palmer (James) of Elko, NV; Mary Radtke (Mark) of Clinton, MO; Martha Rivera (Joe) of Bonner Springs, KS and Margaret Solano (Hilario Caballero) of Kansas City, KS. One sister Sandra M. McTaggart of Kansas City, MO. 18 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren and 8 great great grandchildren.
