Obituary for Del Ray Coleman

Del Ray  Coleman
Del Ray Coleman, 64, of Bonner Springs, KS passed away on Wed., Feb. 10, 2016 at his home. Memorial services will be at 2:00 pm, Sat., Feb. 13, at the Bonner Springs United Methodist Church at 425 W. Morse, with family committal to follow at a later date in Bonner Springs Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Visitation from 6 to 8 pm, Fri., Feb. 12 at the Church. Memorial contributions can be made to Rotary International in care of the Alden-Harrington Funeral Home. Del was born May 11, 1951 in Kansas City, KS and was a lifelong Bonner Springs area resident. Del Graduated from Bonner Springs High School in 1969, he attended Emporia State University and Kansas University and later graduated from Kansas City Kansas Business College in 1973. Del was proud to have been a part of the second generation of his family business as an owner and operator of Coleman Equipment Company where he has worked for the last 43 years. Del was known as an all-around good guy and would help anyone with just about anything including community service where he was a past member of Jaycee’s, and a member of Bonner Springs Rotary International where he was honored with the Paul Harris Fellow award. He had previously served on the Bonner Springs Planning and Zoning Commission and on numerous boards and committees including the Monticello Drainage District, and the Bonner Springs Boy Scouts. Most of all he enjoyed singing and being a longtime member of the Bonner Springs United Methodist Church Choir. Del was preceded in death by his parents Jim and Golden Coleman in 2010 and 2014. And he is survived by his wife, of 43 years, Betty Coleman of the home. Four children Christopher Coleman (Christy Bravo) of Shawnee, KS; Amanda Coleman (Andrew Steinbacher) of Fairway, KS; Jennifer Coleman-Richardson (Crystal) of Kansas City, MO and Jason Coleman (Amy) of Lenexa, KS. One brother Bruce Coleman of Bonner Springs, KS and two sisters Linda Edgell of Basehor, KS and Sharon Nyman of Henderson, NV. Six grandchildren Daniel, Michael, Lucas, Simon, Evelyn and Milo.
