Winona Lee (Sanford) Vernon, 77 of Bonner Springs, KS passed away on Friday June 25, 2021 at Providence Medical Center in K.C., KS. Winnie was born on July 28, 1943, in North Tonawanda, New York to Glen F. and Mary I. (Kerr) Sanford, where her father worked in a shipyard. Winnie had a heart of gold and a "Winnie" smile. If she was not enjoying days with her grand
babies playing board/card games or working at the Bonner Springs Senior Center she would be
yelling at her TV during football season and religiously supporting the Nebraska Cornhuskers in
concert with the KC Chiefs. After her fair amount of Life’s hurdles she found her forever family
in 2004 with Tracy and Ame’ Smith of Kansas where she spent her remaining years and was
loved deeply and will be tremendously missed.
She requested no services, but would like to see her families have a wake to celebrate her life
at their perspective homes with steak n taters
