WILBUR JAMES CHRISTENSON
Wilbur James Christenson went home to the Lord on Saturday, October 5, 2019. Family will receive friends at the visitation from 5 to 7 pm, on Thur., Oct. 10, at the Alden-Harrington Funeral Home in Bonner Springs, KS and Graveside funeral services will be at 11 am, Fri., Oct. 11, in Mt. Sidney Cemetery near Linwood, KS.
Wilbur was born January 2, 1931 in Skeedee, Oklahoma one of 11 children.
He moved from Oklahoma to Kansas in the early 50’s where he joined the Army and met Roberta Pearl Frazier. They were married on June 28, 1953, in Soloman, Kansas and enjoyed 62 years together until her passing on December 27, 2015.
Over the years they made their home in numerous towns across Northeast Kansas while raising their 4 children: Cynthia Sue Nunn (Michael), Terry Lee Christenson (Carmella), Richard Joseph Christenson (Suzanna), Thomas Dean Christenson (Jan). Spending most of their years in the Linwood area.
Wilbur was employed as a forklift operator at Graves Truck Line, Kansas City Ks for over 30 years until semi - retirement in 1988. Wilbur and Roberta then moved to and began working at the Tall Oaks Conference Center campus in Linwood, where Wilbur did mowing and numerous other maintenance duties.
He was a member of the First Christian Church of Olathe, Kansas.
He was preceded in death by sons Richard Joseph (2005), Terry Lee (2015) and wife Roberta (2015). He is survived by one daughter, Cindy (Mike) Nunn of Linwood, Kansas and one son, Thomas (Jan) Christenson of Melissa, Texas. 9 Grandchildren: Shawn Noel (Linwood, Ks), Josh Christenson (Independence, Mo), Blaine Christenson (El Paso, Tx) Richard Christenson (Denver, Co) Matthew Christenson (Ft. Collins, Co) Rachel Barnett (Piper, Ks), Liz Ball (Columbia, MO), Gretchen Ezell (Paradise, Tx) and Ben Christenson (Anna, Tx) 10 great grandchildren, 3 brothers: Willard Christenson (Junction City, KS), James Christenson (Junction City, Ks), Norman Christenson (Wheeling, WV), 1 sister, Norma Jean Bullard (Clay Center, KS) and numerous nieces and nephews.
