Obituary for Wanda Jo Inman (Dunham)

Wanda Jo (Dunham) Inman, 82 of Lenexa, KS passed away June 6, at Delmar Gardens – Lenexa, KS of natural causes. Wanda, the youngest of four children, was born April 7, 1938 in Kansas City, KS to Cornelia J. (Saunders) and Bertie P. L. Dunham. She spent the majority of her youth in the Bonner Springs, KS area, graduating from Bonner Springs High School in 1956.
On June 17, 1956 Wanda married her sweetheart, Kenneth E. Inman, with whom she held hands until his death in 2012. Wanda cared lovingly for her husband as Parkinson’s impacted the end of his life.
Their marriage was blessed with two daughters, Tammy and Kim. Wanda loved being a wife, mother and homemaker, but also enjoyed working outside the home; first working in the kitchen at her daughters’ elementary school, and then in retail sales. Later in life she was so proud of her time cashiering at the Lenexa, Kansas K-Mart.
Her favorite hobby was teaching her children and the local neighbor and 4-H kids the joys of horsemanship. One of her great joys was owning her own horse and it’s foal.
While living in Kansas City, KS for most of their marriage, after retirement Wanda and Kenneth also enjoyed time in Spring Hill, KS, and then their Lenexa, KS apartment. Wanda always enjoyed spending time with friends and family and attending church. She attended both Stony Point Christian Church and Edwardsville, KS Christian Church over the years.
The last few years of her life, Wanda resided at Delmar Gardens. Her daughters will be forever grateful for the friendships and warmness shown by the staff and other residents of Delmar. In her final days, Wanda and her family were cared for with sensitivity and kindness by Katie and Cathy, of Kindred Hospice.
Wanda is survived by her daughters Tammy Bluhm (Michael) of Shawnee, KS and Kim Potter (James) of Olathe, KS. Four adult grandchildren will miss their Grandma – Jacob, Madison, Jordan and Mariah. One great-granddaughter, Elliot, will learn of Wanda through stories told by her mom and grandma.
In consideration of the corona virus, and in order to protect all of those who loved and were loved by Wanda, a private graveside service will be held Wednesday, June 10th. The family requests that memorials be made to the Edwardsville Christian Church, or charity of your choice.
To honor Wanda, on Wednesday morning, we ask that you step outside, soak up a moment of sunshine, lift a prayer, and hold the hand of someone you love. We are certain she is holding our Dad’s hand.
