Obituary for Tressa Jean Jacobs

Tressa “Tressie” Jacobs, 88, of Bonner Springs, Kansas, died peacefully in her sleep on March 8, 2019, at The University of Kansas Hospital in Kansas City surrounded by her loving family. Born February 10, 1931 in Jamestown, Kansas, she is preceded in death by her parents, Cecil and Electa (Beers) Goodell, her late husband of 54 years, Floyd Jacobs, and her son James “Jimmy” Jacobs.

Tressa was a master seamstress and owned and operated the Pre-Hop Dry Cleaners in Overland Park, Kansas for many years with her husband, Floyd. She provided alterations for the Marines at the 9th Marine Corps District and for several local police departments, including the Bonner Springs Police Department. She continued to provide alteration services for her family and friends throughout her life.

Tressa had an active social life and had many great friends. An avid lover of country music, she attended shows regularly. She also loved playing Wahoo and cards. During her younger years, Tressa enjoyed traveling all over the country with Floyd. One of her most beloved and favorite activities was finding great deals at garage sales with her daughter, Pam.

Her closest survivors include children, William (Julie) Jacobs of Versailles, Missouri and Pamela (Mark) Monn of Bonner Springs, Kansas, grandchildren, Samyra (Mike Merola) Jacobs, Richard Jacobs, Justin (Megan) Monn, Blair Monn, and Raechel (Mitchell Marion) Monn, great-grandchildren, Chayce Richardson, Jackson Jacobs, and Madelyn Merola, and countless other family and friends.

Private services will be held as requested by Tressa. The family wishes to thank those who have extended emotional support and friendship to Tressa during the final months of her life.
