Obituary for Toby Fouts

Charles Edward “Toby” Fouts, age 91, of Basehor, Kansas passed away on Friday, Dec. 16th, 2022. Visitation will be 6-8pm Tuesday, Dec. 20th at the First Baptist Church of Basehor and the Funeral will be 11am Wednesday, Dec. 21st also at the Church, burial will follow in the Glenwood Cemetery, Basehor, KS. Memorial Contributions can be made to the First Baptist Church of Basehor, 1410 155th St. Basehor, KS. 66007.
Toby was born on November 10, 1931 in Wyandotte County, Kansas and graduated from Washington High School. He served in the U.S. Army from 1951 – 1954 and was stationed in France. Toby and his wife Julie have a unique anniversary, while he was stationed in France, they married on Sept. 17, 1953 at the French Embassy, and on Sept. 18, 1953 at the US Embassy. Upon returning from the service, Toby worked nights at the Kansas City Star and farmed during the day. In 1964, the couple bought a farm near Basehor and Toby became a full-time farmer with a herd of Angus Cattle. No matter how busy he was, he always found time for family vacations to Colorado in the Camper. Toby’s life revolved around family, farming and friends.
Toby was preceded in death by his parents; James “Doc” & Marie Fouts, brother Fred Fouts, grandson Jake Fouts and son-in-law Dennis Kelly.
Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Julie Fouts of the home, daughter Carol Carmitchel and husband Richard, son Steve Fouts and wife Martie, daughter Susie Kelly and fiancée Bill Howard. Siblings: Jim (Elizabeth) Fouts, Elise (Larry) Straton, Bob (Kathleen) Fouts, John (Mary) Fouts. Seven grandsons: Kyle, Ryan and Joe Kelly, Travis Fouts, Nick, Chad and Tony Carmitchel. 16 great-grandchildren: Ethan, Grant, Paige, Brooklyn, Si, Christian, Annalise, Lilly, Parker, Jackson, Max, Mason, Enzo, Avery, Austyn and Annistyn. As well as many friends and extended family.
