TEENA R. SIMMONS
Teena Rae Simmons, 61, of Bonner Springs, KS passed away on Tuesday, November 29, 2022 at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX. Visitation will be from 10 AM to 11 AM, Monday, and her Funeral Service will follow at 11 AM, Monday, December 5, both at the Alden-Harrington Funeral Home in Bonner Springs, KS with burial to follow in Lenape Cemetery.
The family suggests memorial contributions to Toys for Tots in Teena’s name.
Teena was born on October 18, 1961 in Lawrence, KS and grew up in Linwood, KS graduating in 1979 from Linwood High School. After High School she worked for several years at Griffin Wheel in Muncie, KS and also at the Federal Courthouse in Kansas City, KS. More recently Teena worked for almost 20 years for the United States Post Office. She enjoyed running in 5 K’s throughout the years. She was a Baptist, and her strong faith gave her strength, she was also a single mother and raised two wonderful young men. She was a big fan of all Kansas City sports especially the Chiefs. But her kids, family and friends as close as family, meant the world to her. Teena was preceded in death by her father, Lawson Rainbolt in 2001, and her nephew Robert Holter in 2018. She is survived by her two sons, Brad Simmons (Jessica Lawrence) of Bonner Springs, KS and Jared Simmons (Chelsea) of Bonner Springs, KS. Her mother Hazel Rainbolt of Linwood, KS and two sisters Teresa Holter of Bonner Springs, KS and Tanya Moore of Baldwin, KS.
