Obituary for Shirley Marie Detrick (Bush)
Shirley Marie Bush Detrick, 94, passed away on Jan. 19, 2021 surrounded by her family at her home in Bonner Springs, KS. A FamilyGraveside service is planned for Saturday, Jan. 23rd, at the Edwardsville Cemetery.
Shirley was preceded in death in death by her husband, Ira Detrick, Jr., and two brothers Victor Bush of Edwardsville and Larry Bush of Hagerstown, Maryland. She is survived by her daughter, Deborah Beets (Don) of Bonner Springs, and son Randy Detrick (Terri) of Olathe. Four grandchildren Matt Beets (Kim) and Charlie Beets (Amber) of Bonner Springs, Kristin Detrick Antilla (Doug) and Kyle Detrick (Lianne) of Olathe and seven great-grandchildren.
Shirley was born March 3, 1926 in Edwardsville to Veron and Captola (Millsap) Bush. She graduated from Edwardsville High School and married her high school sweetheart Ira "Bump" Detrick on September 27, 1943. They celebrated 68 years together until his death in 2011. during retirement years she and Bump traveled to all of the states in the continental U.S. and spent Twenty wonderful years as "snowbirds" in Surprise, Arizona.
She worked for both Guarantee Abstract and Title and Chicago Title. She loved baseball, music, dancing, sewing, traveling and most importantly her family. She was also a great cook and was especially known for her home made noodles and coconut cream pie.
