Obituary for Shelly Joann Savner

SHELLY J. SAVNER
Shelly Joann Savner passed away October 29, 2021, surrounded by her family. Shelly was born with special needs, and she truly was special and loved by many. She accomplished so much in her 58 years. Shelly won many medals and ribbons from Special Olympics competitions such as track and field. She snow and water skied, bowled, did acrobatics, and was a cheerleader for Special Olympics basketball. For many years Shelly worked at workshops for the disabled in KCK and Leavenworth. She loved payday!
Being a stylish girl, Shelly loved shopping with her mom. Any clothes or jewelry with bling always caught her attention. She loved having lunch at Dairy Queen with her parents. A highlight for Shelly was going to weddings where she would dance for hours, and eagerly try to catch the bridal bouquet. Probably her biggest thrill was her birthday. She didn't mind getting older and was always talking about how old she would be the next year. While she didn't live as long as we would have liked, her love of life and big personality will be with us forever. She was preceded in death by a brother Jeff Savner in 1971 and she is survived by her parents, Stephen and Audrey Savner, sister Sherry Williams and her husband Don, brother Mark Savner and his wife Melanie. She was aunt to several nieces and nephews. Funeral arrangements: Visitation will be from 5 to 7 pm, on Tue., Nov. 2, and the Funeral Mass will be at 10 am, on Wed., Nov. 3, both at the Holy Angels Catholic Church in Basehor, KS.
