Obituary for Scott Reed McIntyre

Scott Reed McIntyre, age 67, of Bonner Springs, Kansas, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, November 5, 2023.
Scott was born February 20, 1956, in Herington, KS, to parents Ralph 'Barr' McIntyre and Ruby Forsberg Mcintyre. Spending his childhood in Herington, he graduated from Herington High School in
1974. His education continued at the University of Kansas, and he was awarded a Bachelor's Degree in 1978. Then he completed a medical technology course and worked in hospital labs in Salina, KS, and Columbia, MO. Wanting to further his career path, he attended the University of Missouri and received a Master's Degree in Healthcare Administration in 1985. He married Lise Kerr, of Luray, MO, in 1986, and to this union was born a son, Andrew Barr McIntyre.
Scott developed a long career in healthcare administration, that included hospitals in New Jersey, Tennessee, Iowa, Florida, Oklahoma, and Kansas, operating in various leadership capacities. The opportunity to serve in multiple parts of the country provided a foundation for him to observe, guide and provide for various regional challenges facing hospitals and healthcare providers in different settings. These experiences brought him back to Kansas in the role of consulting, recruitment and business development for a healthcare professionals placement firm. Later, he established his own consulting practice and assisted organizations seeking experienced guidance on healthcare management and direction.
Upon retirement, he discovered that staying home wasn't an option for him, and he took on several stressless positions to stay busy and connected.
Proud to be a native son of Kansas, Scott loved cheering on the University of Kansas basketball and football teams. Other hobbies and pastimes for him included golfing, poker groups and buddies, and car maintenance on his vehicles. Most importantly was his devotion to his wife, his son and daughter-in-law.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Barr and Ruby McIntyre, his sister-in-law, Jane Mclntyre, nephews, Joshua McIntyre in 2021, and Travis Smith, in 2022.
Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Lise McIntyre, of the home, son Andrew Mclntyre and wife, Alexandra McIntyre, of Kansas City, KS, brother Christoper 'Chris' McIntyre of Herington, KS, nieces, nephews, cousins and many beloved friends.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Sunday, November 19, 2023, 2:00 p.m., at Lake of the Forest Clubhouse in Bonner Springs, KS. Family and friends are invited to stay afterwards to visit and share memories of Scott at the clubhouse. Refreshments will be provided.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations in his honor be made to the Red Cross, or by donating a pint of blood to a local blood bank.
