Obituary for Russell David Runnels
Russell David Runnels, age 53, passed away on Thursday, August 12, 2021 at K.U. Medical Center in Kansas City, KS. Russ was born in Kansas City, KS July 6th 1968. Russ was a special man with a big heart and an infectious laugh. Russ worked construction most of his life. His many talents included: tattooing, painting, drawing, fishing and helping others with their projects. Russ loved the Chiefs, Royals, his dogs Maverick and Maximus and being with his friends & family.
Russ was preceded in death by his grandparents Dwight and Ruth Runnels, Lawrence and Lela Wilderman and his Father Dwight (Kent) Runnels II.
He is survived by his girlfriend Julie Sams of the home and her son Dale Sams, His mother Gayle Runnels (Robert Moore), two brothers, Dr. Steven Runnels (Stacy) & their children, McKinley, Camden and Teghan, Dr. Scott Runnels (Jessica) and their children, Vincent, Vivian and Roman. Two Stepchildren, Megan Williams and her children Nick and Tajir, Nick Williams (Raylene) and their children Zavian, Dominick, Savanah & Henry Russell Williams.
A “Celebration of Life” will be Saturday, September 4th, 2021 from 1:00 pm to 4:00pm at The Gideon Event Space, 13930 Mitchell Ct., Basehor KS 66007. Donations may be made in his memory to the Leavenworth County Humane Society.
