Obituary for Ross Evans Abercrombie

ROSS E. ABERCROMBIE

Ross Evans Abercrombie, 82, of Basehor, KS, passed away on Friday, July 8th, 2022, at Advent Health Shawnee Mission, with his family by his side.

Ross was born on September 27th, 1939, in Loretto, TN. In 1942, his family relocated to Kansas City's Westside, where he grew up playing in the stockyards with his brothers.

Ross attended Turner High School, where he met Judy, the love of his life. Shortly after high school, he began his career at Corn Products Refining Company in North Kansas City, where he worked for 42 years.

Over the years, he enjoyed many hobbies such as developing property, building houses, riding his motorcycle, piloting planes, collecting antiques, and old cars.

He will be remembered as a hard worker who was passionate and determined to finish anything he started. But, most importantly, he was a loving husband, father, son, brother, grandfather, and uncle.

Ross was preceded in death by his father, James, mother, Marie, & brother Raymond Abercrombie.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Judy, of the home; two sons Steven (Cheryl) and Danny (Annette) Abercrombie; brother Stanley Abercrombie of Irving, TX; one grandson Dustin (Madison) Abercrombie; two great-grandsons, Jaxon & Hudson; one sister-in-law Corky (Tom) Boone, extended family, and many friends.

A Celebration of Life Service will follow at a later date. The family suggests memorial contributions to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
