Obituary for Rosalie Rae Kemler

Rosalie Sedgwick Kemler, age 91, a longtime resident of Bonner Springs, passed away while surrounded by her loving family on Jan. 20, 2021 at her home in Olathe, KS. Visitation will be 5-6pm, on Wed., Jan. 27 and the Memorial Service will be at 6pm both at the Alden-Harrington Funeral Home. Following cremation Rosalie will be buried in the Glenwood Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Good Shepard Hospice in care of the funeral home.

Rosalie was born on April 30, 1929 in Linwood, Kansas to Morgan “Pete” & Margaret (Gross) Sedgwick. She and her family resided in Linwood until Rosalie was in the 3rd Grade, at that time her family moved to the Bonner Springs area. Rosalie attended Bonner Springs and Loring Grade Schools and she graduated from Bonner Springs High School in the Class of 1947. Rosalie began working for Kansas Electric Power (later known as Westar Energy) before she graduated high school and continued working for that company until her retirement in 1991. In 1952 Rosalie married Sam Kemler who preceded her in death in 2003. Rosalie enjoyed her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren, cooking, traveling and helping a lending hand when she was able. She was also preceded in death by her parents, brother Eugene Sedgwick, sister Virginia Weatherbie and her husband Bob, brother-in-law Richard Oelschlaeger and a son-in-law George Miller. Survivors include her son Terry Kemler of Overland Park, KS and his fiancée Gemma Valligo, Granddaughters Samantha Rae Kemler (Tyler MacDonald) of Kansas City, MO., Cassie Belle Kemler and her fiancée Chris Fratiello and her children Lacelynn, Emily, Lily, Jaxon and Lucas. One Sister: Helen Oelschlaeger of Basehor, KS., Step-daughter Patricia Miller of Topeka, KS., and her children Kim (Jeff) Link, Kelly (Alyssa) Miller and Kate Miller. Two step-grandsons: Taegan Miller and Kale Link. Lesley Kemler of Overland Park, KS., and many nieces and nephews: Lisa (Tony) Reynolds, Linda (James) Sedgwick-Clark, Deborah (Joseph) Wilson, Rick (Lori) Oelschlaeger, Susan (Tony) Berg, Keith (Cindy) Oelschlaeger, and Thomas Sedgwick. And many more extended family members and friends/family please forgive us if we have left you out, as the list is greater than you can ever imagine.
