Obituary for Ronald D. "Ron" Maxwell Sr.

Ronald “Ron” D. Maxwell, Sr., age 81, of Basehor, Kansas passed away on Sunday, Oct. 27, 2019. Visitation will be held 10-11am, followed by the Funeral Service at 11am, both Friday, Nov. 1st at the Liberty Baptist Church in Kansas City, KS., burial will follow in the Glenwood Cemetery in Basehor, KS. Memorial contributions can be made to the Liberty Baptist Church.
Ron was born on Dec. 16, 1937 in Fredonia, Kansas and was the youngest of two children born to Joe & Ruby (Coots) Maxwell. He grew up in Parsons, Kansas and graduated from Parsons High School in the Class of 1955. Following graduation he enlisted in the US Navy where he served until 1958 in the Naval Air Transfer Squadron. After the service, Ron returned to Parsons where he met and later married, Alberta Dennis on Dec. 30, 1958. Together they made their home in Parsons where Ron began his career in the Printing Business. In 1966, him and Alberta moved to Shawnee, KS. where they lived until 1976 when they moved to Basehor, where they still reside. In 1976, Ron graduated from Johnson County Community College with a degree in Business Management. Ron has been member of the Graphic Communications Union #235 since 1968, was a member of the Friendship Baptist Church of Parsons, KS., a member of the Mid-America Running Association, and currently was an active member of the Liberty Baptist Church. Ron loved running and biking, he was proud to say he had biked across Kansas and several other states.
He was preceded in death by his Parents.
Survivors include his wife, Alberta Maxwell of the home, three children; Ronald “Dewayne” Maxwell, Jr. and wife Tammy of Independence, MO., Delbert Maxwell and wife Penny of Overland Park, KS., Cindy Maxwell and Ray Beshears of Climax Springs, MO. Six grandchildren; Tiffany, Tristan, Tashia, Samantha, Cody & Cheyenne. Five great-grandchildren; Brooks, Allisa, Alexa, Madison and Mason. One sister Shirley Bowen of Parsons, KS. as well as several extended family and friends.
