Obituary for Roman Louis Harrington

ROMAN L. HARRINGTON
Roman L. Harrington passed away on May 2, 2019 at his home at the age of 97. Graveside Funeral services will be 9 am, Wed., May 8, at the Leavenworth Veteran's Administration National Cemetery in Leavenworth, KS. He was born August 13, 1921 in Bluemound, MO the son of John and Lou Harrington.
Roman entered active service of the United States Army on September 22, 1942. He was a Private First Class of the 34th Infantry and served during WWII. Roman earned many medals including the Purple Heart and 2 Bronze Stars.
Roman married the love of his life, Wilma (Myers), on September 21, 1946. They spent 72 years loving each other and driving each other crazy! They are both faithful members of the Baptist church. They have 2 sons, Bob and Jerry. Roman retired from Pflumm Plumbing at age 60, but later came out of retirement to help at his sons’ heating and cooling company until he finally decided to call it quits at age 85. He was a man who loved to read, do puzzles and watch Bonanza. But most of all he loved his grandkids and great grandkids. In his spare time, you could find him fishing, water skiing and watching his beloved Royals. We are so grateful he got to watch them win another World Series. Everyone who met Roman instantly loved him! He was charming, ornery and always had a story to tell. I think that is what we will miss the most.
Roman will be missed by his wife of 72 years, Wilma, sons, Bob (Debbie) of De Soto, KS, Jerry (Julie) of Shawnee, four grandchildren, David (Roxy), Lisa (Danny), Jacob and Jessica, and 4 great grandchildren, Makenna, Aubrey, Ryese and Kaylin.
Roman is preceded in death by his parents, John and Lou Harrington, 8 siblings and an infant son, Richard.
Our family would like to thank all the doctors and nurses at the VA in Leavenworth, and the nurses from Vitas Hospice. You all took such great care of our favorite guy.
