Robert “Bob” LaVerne Breuer
Robert LaVerne Breuer, 88 of Basehor, KS went to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 9, 2019 at Twin Oaks Nursing Home in Lansing, KS. Bob was born on August 14, 1931 in Wellington, MO, growing up in Wellington and moving to Basehor sometime in the 1950’s. He was an excellent baseball player and played for a Farm Team Club, but soon after was drafted into the U. S. Army and served in Korea. On his return he met the love of his life, Wilma Jean Mock of Independence, MO and started their family of four. He joined the family Well Drilling business, where he worked until he retired in his 70’s. During that time he also worked for Leavenworth County and started his own company, Breuer Sanitation. He loved watching birds and building birdhouses and never could pass up vanilla ice cream. He and Jean loved to travel the country in their R.V. Bob was preceded in death by Jean after 57 years of marriage in 2012, one grandson, Rocky Breuer in 2017 and a son-in-law, Basil Brown, also, in 2017. He is survived by his four children, Kim McDowell (Mike) of Linwood, KS; Steve Breuer (Sandy) of Kidder, MO; Janice Brown of Basehor, KS and Glen Breuer of Basehor, KS. One brother, Dale Breuer, of Basehor, KS. Four grandchildren, Jeremy, Nicki, Derrick and Jacque. Nine great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren. Visitation is from 9 to 10 am and Funeral at 10 am, on Thursday, November 14th, at the Alden-Harrington Funeral Home in Bonner Springs, KS with burial to follow in the Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Kansas City, KS. The family suggests memorial contributions to the Basehor V.F.W. or to the Alzheimer’s Association in care of the funeral home.
