Obituary for Richard Kent Minear Sr.

RICHARD K. MINEAR, SR.
Richard "Butch" Kent Minear, Sr., 74 of Piper, KS passed away on Thursday, Oct. 21, 2021 at his home. Memorial Services will be at 3:00 pm, on Sun., Oct. 24, 2021 at Haven Baptist Church in Kansas City, KS with burial to follow at a later date in the Lucas Cemetery in Lucas, KS. The family suggests memorial contributions to the American Diabetes Association or to the Community Blood Center. Butch was born on March 2, 1947 in Ellsworth, KS and graduated from Lucas High School in 1965. After High School he moved to Kansas City and started working for Hallmark Cards where he worked for 41 years, starting in I.T. in the Computer room and later as a Pressman. He was also a volunteer E.M.T. & Firefighter for the Prairie Township Fire Dept. in Piper for many years. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Kansas City, KS for 50 years. He was a baptist and always a faithful man. Over the years he had given many gallons of blood and also of platelets at the Community Blood Center. He enjoyed woodworking and was an avid K.C. "sports watcher" but most of all he enjoyed watching and attending his grandchildren's sports and activities, rarely missing a single event. Butch was preceded in death by his parents Ralph and Melva Minear, his brother-in-law Bob Durham and a niece Tresa Kidder. He is survived by his wife of 55 years Barbara Minear of the home. Three children Richard K. Minear, Jr. and his wife Diane of Lawrence, Warren M. Minear of Kansas City, KS and Marnie M. Hurt and her husband Dale of DeSoto, KS. One sister Dee Durham of Salina, KS. Seven Grandchildren Matt, Adam & Sarah, Jake & Jennifer, Emily, Jessica & Benjamin, Hanna and Haylee. Five great grandchildren Makia, Max, Sadie, Liam and Abigail. Two nieces Jeanine Innes and her husband John and Becky Hallhauer and her husband Eric.
