Perry B. Peden, Jr., 69, of Overland Park, KS passed away on Wed., Dec. 15, 2021 at his home. Visitation will be from 3 to 5 pm, on Sun., Dec. 19 and the Funeral will be at 2 pm, on Mon., Dec. 20, both at the Alden-Harrington Funeral Home in Bonner Springs, KS.
Perry was born on March 12, 1952 in Heavner, OK where he grew up, later moving to Arkansas before moving to Overland Park in his senior year, graduating from Shawnee Mission East High School in 1970. He worked as an electrical engineer for many years before retiring from the Burlington Northern and Santa Fe railroad in 2019. He was able to realize his dream of becoming a cowboy when he bought his ranch in southern Leavenworth county in 1999. His biggest passion in life was his family but his award-winning 1955 Ford Thunderbird that he restored from the ground up was a real labor of love. He was preceded in death by his mother Juanita Peden in 2017. Survivors include his wife Mary Lakey-Peden of the home, two daughters Cherie Greenwood and her husband Nick of Basehor, KS; Stacie VanDine and her husband Eric of Avon, CT; two stepchildren Bobby McMackin of St. Joseph, MO and Ronda Sirkovic and her husband Richard of Shawnee, KS; and his father Perry B. Peden, Sr. and his Wife Alice of Overland Park, KS; two sisters Claudia Downing of Overland Park, KS and Kelley Wilson and her husband Dave of Shawnee, KS and four granddaughters Mackenzie, Abigayle, Hailee and Chelsea and one step grandson Ian.
In Lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions to a Child Sponsorship Charity based in Kansas City called Unbound.
