Obituary for Patricia Ann Rogers

Patricia Ann Rogers, age 85, long-time resident of Basehor, Kan., died Monday, Nov. 8, 2021. Patricia was employed for 31 years by Southwestern Bell and later AT&T in Kansas City, Mo., where she retired as an executive assistant. She was married to her husband, Howard Rogers, for 54 years before his passing in 2011. The couple retired to Patricia’s hometown of Basehor in the mid-1980s and enjoyed long travel excursions and fun adventures. Patricia was a woman of immense compassion and generosity, an eternal optimist who loved to laugh. She enjoyed discovering new recipes and donating her time for volunteer opportunities. She was a longtime active member of Maywood Community Church in Kansas City, Kan., and a regular participant in church-related activities, along with Telephone Pioneers and the Heart of America Family Campers. Patricia was an avid gardener and took meticulous care to maintain her home’s immaculately manicured flower beds and houseplants.

Patricia was born March 14, 1936, at Kansas City, Kan., the daughter of Everett and Agnes (Sappington) Goens. Survivors include cousin Michal Cate of Molalla, Ore., sister-in-law Judith Goens of Basehor, Kan., several nephews, nieces and many friends. She is preceded in death by husband, Howard Rogers; brother, Allen Goens; parents Everett Goens and Agnes (Goens) Roach, and stepfather Clinton Roach.

Memorial Service will be 1:30 p.m. Jan. 8, at Maywood Community Church, 11201 Parallel Parkway. Burial to follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, 701 N. 94th Street, Kansas City, Kan.
