Obituary for Patricia Sue Glover

Patricia Sue Glover was born on December 3, 1939, in Kansas City, MO. Her life ended on May 14, 2022, at her home at Lakeview Village in Lenexa, Kansas. She was the oldest child of Paul and Nell Malay Hoyes and a graduate of Turner High School. Her younger brothers Billy and Mike preceded her in death. Pat was an avid reader, writer, and artist who added color to everyone’s life she touched. The highlight of her art career was being asked to create an ornament for the White House Christmas Tree in December of 1998. She was the only artist chosen from the state of Kansas and represented our state well with her gorgeous fabric creation.
The highlight of her life, however, was when she answered to Patty Sue, Mom, Big Mama, Grandma, Ghee, Bow-mah, and Gramma. Pat will be remembered with love by the family she created. H. Sharon Howell was blessed by Pat’s grace-filled demeanor and forgiving nature as a life-long friend and sojourner in life’s journey. Her children Mark Glover, of Kansas City, Kansas, Amy (Don) Breitling of Bonner Springs, Kansas, and Holly (Andy) Schreiber of Shawnee, Kansas describe her as an understanding and patient mom who was consistent in her love and her expectations. Her grandchildren, Keith (Katie) Glover, Alyson (Evan) Theno, and Cooper and Gracyn Schreiber saw a different side of her as the involved and playful grandma who twirled them around the kitchen to dance with them, sat on the floor and created with them, and smiled so enormously when she was with them that you could feel her pride and love just by looking at her. Pat is also remembered by her great-grandchildren Samantha and Vanessa Glover, Kadien Barth, and Collison Theno. The family she created was indeed her everything.
Pat’s life ended after a cruel battle with dementia and Parkinson’s. As her memory faded, there was one constant that she responded to, the love and smiles of her family. For that we are grateful. Gratitude is the memory of the heart, and our hearts could not be fuller because of the time we spent with her.
Services are scheduled for Saturday, May 21, 2022, at Alden Harrington Funeral Home in Bonner Springs, Kansas. Visitation will begin at 10:00, the funeral service will begin at 11:00, and the graveside committal will follow the service at the Edwardsville Cemetery.
