Pastor Sandy Duane Seaba, age 76, of Basehor, Kansas peacefully went home to be with his Lord on Saturday January 8th, 2022 at his home while watching the Chiefs game with family. Visitation will be 5-8pm Friday, Jan 14th at the Elm Grove Baptist Church. Celebration of Life will be at 11:00am Saturday, Jan. 15th also at the Elm Grove Baptist Church with burial to follow in the Elm Grove Cemetery.

Sandy was born on Dec. 15th, 1945 in Independence, Missouri and was raised by his grandmother Ruth Coakley and great-grandfather Ben Norvell. He graduated from William Chrisman High School in the Class of 1964. While in High School Sandy excelled in several sports, most notably Baseball. As a football player he is still the only player to score a touchdown on the 1st play from scrimmage in consecutive games.

In 1962 he met the love of his life, Deborah Jennings of Shawnee, KS. They dated through their high school years and were married on July 1st, 1966. Sandy was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force with service from 1965 to 1971. He worked for Cecil Van Tuyl at Van Chevrolet and the Ford Assembly Plant before becoming an Ordained Baptist Minister. While finishing his ministry degree he came to Elm Grove Baptist Church to “fill-in” until they found a new Pastor, 48 years later he was serving as Lead Pastor and has grown the Church to more than 500 members. Pastor Sandy Seaba served as a board member with Bible and Literature Missionary Foundation in Shelbyville, TN. In addition to his Bachelor’s Degree, he was awarded an Honorary Doctorate from Tennessee Temple University in Chattanooga, TN

Sandy was preceded in death by his grandparents, parents Bud Seaba and Wanda Michalek, and eldest sister Linda Johnson.
Survivors include the love of his life, his wife Debbie Seaba of the home. Four sons: Duane Seaba and wife Denise of Tonganoxie, KS., Rodney Seaba and wife Jamey of De Soto, KS., David Seaba and wife Wendy of Hanover, MD and Johnny Seaba and wife Elisa of Olathe, KS., eleven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and two on the way. Siblings: Gary Seaba, Lureta Robertson and husband David, Dee Dee Lowther and husband Gerald, Eddie Middleton, Robert Ladd and wife Lisa, Billy Middleton and wife Holly, Donna Staley and husband Jim, Marlin Young and fiancée Jacqueline. As well as his church family he loved dearly and many, many friends.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions to the Elm Grove Baptist Church Building Fund.
