Obituary for Norman Lee Maier

NORMAN L. MAIER
Norman Lee Maier, 88, of Bonner Springs, KS passed away on Monday, Aug. 2, 2021 at Providence Medical Center in Kansas City, KS. Visitation will be from 9 to 10 am, Masonic service at 10 am and the funeral will follow at 10:30 am, all on Friday, August 6, 2021 at the Alden-Harrington Funeral Home in Bonner Springs, KS. Interment will follow at the Chapel Hills Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Kansas City, KS. The family suggests memorial contributions to "Bonner Beautiful" in care of the funeral home. Norman was born on April 16, 1933 in Jamestown, MO where he grew up and later enlisted in the US Navy, where he served in the Korean War on the USS Hornet. After his return he married the love of his life Delia Mae Norton on June 7, 1957. Together they lived in Kansas City before moving to Bonner Springs in 1978. He loved working for the Public Works department in Bonner Springs for many years and in many capacities especially as the Cemetery Sexton, which he cared for greatly. He also volunteered for many groups including Bonner Beautiful, Bonner Springs Planning and Zoning, the Bonner Springs City Band, The Bonner Springs Masonic Lodge, the V.F.W. and he also enjoyed visiting over coffee with all the locals out at Cliff's. He is survived by his wife of 64 years Delia Mae Maier of the home. And three children Gary Maier and his wife Tracey of Bonner Springs, KS; Barbara Maier of Kansas City, KS and Kenneth Maier of Bonner Springs, KS. Two sisters Virginia Huff of Kansas City, MO and Ruth Hacker in Florida. Four grandchildren Kacey, Fred, Rachael and Zachary and five great grandchildren Rylan, Oliver, Daemien, Briar and Kingston.
