Norma Jean Bernard, 93, of Kansas City, KS passed away on Thursday, April 11, 2024 at her home. Visitation will be from 10 to 1130 am and Funeral Services at 11:30 am, Tuesday, April 16, both at the Maywood Community Church in Kansas City, KS with burial to follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in KC, KS. The family suggest memorial contributions to the Abdullah Shrine Children’s Hospital. Norma was born October 25, 1930 in Kansas City and was a lifelong area resident where she grew up and then graduated from Wyandotte High School in 1948. Norma had enjoyed traveling over the years with her husband, a former TWA employee, on many Shrine trips. She also owned and operated the Orchid House Flower Shop in Kansas City, KS with her parents for many years. Norma was an accomplished artist and even taught painting, painting many works of art for her family and friends. She was a long-time member for over 73 years of the Order of Eastern Star. Norma was proceeded in death by her husband of 62 years Gene Bernard in 2012 and one sister Frances Fritter. Norma is survived by her daughter Debbie Denton (Ron) of Kansas City, KS and son H. Wayne Rector (Melody) also of Kansas City, KS. Two grandchildren James Gaupp and Jennifer Waterman (Chase). One great granddaughter Ava, as well as a host of other family, friends, nieces, nephews, and step grandchildren.
