Micky Jon Harris, age 66, of Bonner Springs, KS, passed away on Monday, May 13, 2019, at KU Medical Center after a year long battle with cancer. Visitation will be 1-2 pm, Funeral at 2 pm, both Saturday, May 18th at the Alden-Harrington Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Bonner Springs Cemetery. Memorial Contributions can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
Micky was born on Sept. 20, 1952, in Falls City, Nebraska, and was the first of four children born to Wayne & Joyette (Joy) Harris. He attended elementary school in Falls City, before the Harris family moved to Scottsbluff, Nebraska in 1963. While attending junior high school, he learned to play the Cornet and was a member of a traveling group of 3, who won several state competitions. In addition to his love of music, which also included playing the guitar, he excelled in his academic studies and enjoyed exploring the outdoors. In the summer of 1966 the family moved to Bonner Springs, where he attended Bonner Springs High School. Micky enjoyed working at Dubs Dread Golf Course on the Grounds Crew, during his high school years, and with his father in the Manufactured Home Industry and apartment maintenance in his adult years. Micky enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, fishing and was an avid Royals and Chiefs fan. He was a longtime resident of Bonner Springs. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his three siblings: Karen (Robert) Stapleton of Bonner Springs, Jeffery (Brenda) Harris of Elkhorn, WI., and Lizbeth (David) Stoner of Bonner Springs. Several nieces and nephews; Erin (Brandon) Wisemore, Sean (Bekah) Harris, Heather (Nick) Bentzen, Cori (Steven) Beck, Ian (Kate) Harris, Cody Stapleton, Emma Joy Wisemore, Finn Harris, and Kaden Beck.
