Obituary for Meryle M. Hotujac (White)
Meryle M. Hotujac, age 98, of Kansas City, KS., passed away on Jan. 3rd, 2019. Visitation will be 10-11am, followed by the Funeral at 11am, both Wed. Jan. 9th, 2019 at the Alden-Harrington Funeral Home, burial to follow in the Stony Point Cemetery.
Meryle White was born in 1920, the youngest child to farmers William and Sadie (Grinter) White. She lived her lifetime near Muncie, Kansas, in Wyandotte County. She learned early to work hard and be resourceful. She attended grade school at nearby Stony Point and high school further away in Turner. She graduated Valedictorian and President of her class in 1938. In High School she developed bookkeeping skills and attended Brown-Mackie School of Business in KCK. Meryle’s first job after high school was at Anderson Furniture Company, which afforded her the opportunity to meet her future husband, Frank Hotujac. She later worked at Washington High School as an Assistant to the Principal. A few years later, she became co-owner of Frank’s Deluxe Sandwich Company. She was a busy working woman, but also served as a Girl Scout Leader, a Church Woman’s Leader, active in the Grinter House Historical Society, a volunteer at Presbyterian Manor, served as an officer at her local chapter of AARP, and other community groups. She was a lifetime member of Stony Point Christian Church. Meryle’s greatest gift to her family and friends was her spiritual influence. Her faith in God and love of the Lord demonstrated to all of us her source of strength and our pattern for life. Proverbs 31
Meryle White Hotujac is survived by daughter, Sharon Turk (John), and son Jerry Hotujac (Aldre'), four grandchildren; Lori Hibbert (Doug), Kari Hyatt (Jason), Anne Marie Hallberg (Ken), and Mathew Hotujac (Olga), and four great grandchildren, Ashley, Rebecca, Erika and Cameron. In honor of Meryle’s life, the family suggests donations be made to: Stony Point Cemetery, 149 S. 78th Street, Kansas City, KS 66111, or the Grinter Place Friends, Inc., 1400 S. 78th Street, Kansas City, KS 66111, there also will be donation envelopes available at the visitation and service.
