Obituary for Matthew Brady "Matt" Duprey Sr.

Matthew “Matt” Brady Duprey, Sr., age 59, of Shawnee, Kansas went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2019. A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held from 1-3pm, Sunday Nov. 17th, at Cascone’s Restaurant North, 3737 North Oak Trfy, KC,MO. In lieu of flowers, his family strongly suggests memorial contributions to the Mid-America Leukemia & Lymphoma Society or Wayside Waifs.
Matt was born on March 9th, 1960 in Detroit, Michigan and was the middle child of seven children born to Brady & Rose (Carroll) Duprey. Matt was raised in four different cities due to his family following his father’s career, and in 1978 he graduated from Lakeland High School in Michigan. Matt began working sales in the Auto Parts Industry, traveling all over the Midwest. He then began a career in Finance in the Kansas City area, where he achieved the title of, Director of Collections. Most recently he pursued his own entrepreneurship in the Transportation Industry. His pastime was traveling the World playing Golf, including working at The Masters Golf Tournament in Augusta, Georgia. Matt also enjoyed Fine Automobiles and Muscle Cars, playing with his dogs and grandchildren, spending time at the Lake of the Ozarks on “The Boat”, and any family event he could gather with his family to “Play Cards”. He was also an avid fan of the Detroit Lions, Kansas City Chiefs and KU Basketball.
Matt was preceded in death by his mother Rose Duprey and brother John Duprey.
He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Melissa “Missy” Duprey of the home, two children; son Matt, Jr. and wife Michelle and their children Noah & Maelynn, daughter Sonya Ward and husband Dennis and their children Sarah & Connor, his father Brady Duprey, five sisters; Denise Sanborn and husband Roy, Donna Lucas and husband Dr. Lenny, Mary Godfrey and husband Tom, Kathy Duprey, Lisa Day and husband Brad. As well as several wonderful nieces, nephews, extended family and many, many friends.
