Obituary for Matilda Fore "Tilly" Masson

Matilda “Tilly” Martin Fore Masson, went home to be with her Lord & Savior on October 7th, 2021. Her family is planning a Private Graveside Committal in the Holy Angels Cemetery. The public is welcome however to attend her Memorial Service, 4:00pm, Monday, Oct. 18th, 2021 at the Church of the Resurrection West, 24000 W. Valley Parkway, Olathe, KS. 66061

Tilly was born January 10,1936 in Nashville, TN. to Elizabeth Jeannette and Calvin Joseph Martin. She and her brother Jay Perry Martin were raised by their grandparents, Jessie and William Thomas Perry. She graduated from Hillsboro High School and attended George Peabody College for Teachers in Nashville, TN.

Tilly was married to Theodore Robert Fore in 1956 and they moved to the Kansas City area in 1963. Ted was Regional Vice President for the U-Haul Co. until his death in 1973.

Tilly was a 67 year member of The Daughters of the American Revolution and a past regent of the Mission Hills Chapter. She enjoyed social outings with the Scarlet Belles Red Hatters group. She was an avid reader, especially history. Tilly’s toy room was filled with years of collecting Sasha Dolls and teddy bears, which was shared with her grandchildren or any child that would come for a visit.

Once when asked what she did, she said, “I am an Appreciator”.
She appreciated the talent of artists, writers, pilots, engineers, farmers, race car drivers and builders of highways. “I appreciate all the things I can not do for lack of talent…but I do know how to take in stray dogs and cats.”

Tilly and her three children “married” James B. Masson, II in Tonganoxie, Kansas. Jim and Tilly were married 40 years until his death in 2014. They loved to travel and cruise, and always appreciated a “day trip” on the back roads of Kansas. Sometimes their favorite part of the day was to sit on the front porch in their rocking chairs talking about their children. Tilly’s family was the light of her life.

Tilly is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Fore Eberth (Tom) of Wenatchee, WA., Theodore Robert Fore, Jr. (Julie Blichmann) of Oskaloosa, KS., Grant Masson (Alison) of Los Angeles, CA., and brother Jay Perry Martin (Teddie) of St. Simon’s Island, GA. Five grandchildren: Kyle Eberth, Jessie Witt, Curtis Fore, Griffin Fore, Eva Fore, and four great-grandchildren: Brooklyn Eberth, Hudson Eberth, Harper Witt and Graham Witt.
She is preceded in death by son Jason Martin Fore.
