Mary Rose Ann Hartford, of Basehor Kansas, earned her heavenly crown on April 24th, 2021 at Providence Place in Kansas, City Kansas. She was surrounded by love and the peace of Christ. Mary Knox was born in McDonald County, Missouri where she lived with her family, including her brother John. They moved to California where she attended high school as well as college. She married Fred Ballard, an active member of the United States Navy. They settled in Bonner Springs, Kansas with their children- Tom, Terry, Tammy, and Nick. Fred passed away suddenly in 1985. Mary remained in Kansas where she worked and spent time with her family. In 2003, Mary wed Jack Hartford of Warsaw, MO. Mary and Jack traveled often and went on many adventures. Mary and Jack enjoyed the blessing of their blended family, including Laurie, Jackie, Patty, and Chrissy. Jack passed to heaven in 2017. The last few years of her life, Mary lived in Basehor, Kansas. She loved spending time with her grandkids and great grandkids, reading books, and saying “oh crum.” She’s infinitely loved and will be greatly missed.
Mary was preceded in death by Fred Ballard and Jack Hartford. She is survived by her children- Tom (Karen) Ballard, Terry (Sherri) Ballard, Nick (Rebecca) Ballard, Tammy (Tom) Rousselo, Laurie (Mike) Wilson, Patty (Randy) Van Norman, Jackie (Dennis) Cox, and Christine (Chris) Lake. She leaves a legacy of 21 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren. Donations can be made on behalf of Mary to the American Cancer Society.
