Mary “Katie” Green, age 79, of Kansas City, Kansas passed away on Thursday, February 2nd, 2023. On Friday, Feb 10th there will be a Visitation from 10 am to Noon at the Alden-Harrington Funeral Home, followed by the Graveside Funeral Service at 12:30 pm at the Leavenworth National Cemetery.
Mary Kathryn “Katie” Green was born on April 24, 1943, in Harrison, Arkansas. She grew up in El Monte, California, and graduated from Rosemead High School. She was attending Beauty School when she met Guy P. Green while he was stationed at Long Beach, CA with the US Navy. Katie and Guy were married on October 13th, 1963, in Las Vegas, NV. After his discharge from the Navy they relocated to Moline, IL where he worked for John Deere. Later they made their home in Kansas City, Kansas where they raised their three children. Katie retired from the SRS office in Kansas City, KS in 2007. Her family was her entire life and she loved spending time with them.
She was preceded in death by her husband Guy P. Green in 1995 and her mother Mary Mae Utter in 1967.
Survivors include her three children: Jennifer Helm of Olathe, KS, Stacie Rowland and husband Brandon of Bonner Springs, and Steven Green also of Bonner Springs. Five grandchildren: Clayton Horn and wife Bernadette of Edwardsville, KS, Chad and Partner Ashlee McGregor of Springhill, KS, Eva Green, PJ Stuteville and Trinidi McConnell. Seven great-grandchildren: Xavier, Dominic, Kayleigh, Morayh, Ayvrie, Mason, and Charlize. One brother Gary Luellen and wife Debbie of Citrus Heights, CA.
