MARY H. BROWN
Mary Helen Brown, 97, of Basehor, KS passed away on Friday, June 4, 2021 at her home. Visitation will be from 9 to 10 am, and the Funeral will be at 10 am, both on Thursday June 10, at the First Baptist Church of Basehor. With burial to follow in the Pleasant View Cemetery in Oskaloosa, KS. The family suggests memorial contributions to the Haven Baptist Church at 3430 Hutton Rd. Kansas City, KS 66109. Mary was born March 4, 1924 in Kansas City, KS to Ira Otis and Eva Mae Ramsey and grew up in the Kansas City, KS area. She married Robert Lee Brown on Feb. 7 1941 and later moved to the Basehor, KS area. Mary became a registered nurse as an adult after raising her family. She retired as a nurse from the Leavenworth V.A.M.C. Mary was an accomplished seamstress who enjoyed all types of sewing and quilting, she also enjoyed and taught tole painting. She was a seasoned traveler having sailed on 19 cruises. Most of all she was always helping others and kept busy helping others her entire life. Mary became a Christian at the age of 7 at the Salvation Army. She and her husband were active in the Southern Baptist Church throughout their lives, much of which involved working with youth. She was a devoted and loving Christian wife, mother and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years Robert Lee Brown in 1993 and one son William Ira Brown in 2016. Mary is survived by two daughters Mary Lee Hooker of Basehor, KS; Joyce Maskil of Omaha, NE and one son Paul Brown of Hutchinson, KS. 36 grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
