Obituary for Margaret R. Harris

Margaret R. Harris, of Kansas City, Kansas and Lincoln, Ne., passed away October 9, 2018. Margaret was born January 4, 1924, to Henry and Mattie Thompson in Bonner Springs, KS. Margaret's passes as the last of 12 children. She leaves behind her 6 children, Kathy Harris of Modesto, Ca.; Doretha Smith of Avondale, Az., Robert Chambers and (Brenda) of Flint, MI. Larry Harris of Marysville, Ca., Neil Harris and (Jan) of Lincoln, Ne., Janice Harris-Boseda and (Jahi) of Kansas City, Mo. She was also blessed with 11 grand children, 17 great-grand children and 17 great-great-grand children. Margaret was a member of Pleasant Green Baptist Church of KCK, for many year before moving to San Jose, Ca. in 1986. While there, she joined Emanuel Baptist Church. She remained a loyal member of the fellowship until moving to Lincoln, Ne. in November 2011. Her fellowship was maintain while in Lincoln, first at The Waterford, assisted living in south Lincoln and secondly at Lancaster Rehabilitation in the winter of 2014. Margaret enjoyed many jobs during her working years. Her favorite was being employed by KCK public schools in the food service department. She would say, "It was just something about being around those kids". Margaret also enjoyed creating Cleaning Service and In-Home Child Care opportunities for herself and her family. Margaret carried with her a great Love for work, being around people, comedy, bingo and a occasional bet. One of her last bets was with her brother Lester. Their bet was, whom would out-live the other. Lester passed December 2017. Lester would probably say, "I have to let her win one time, at least". Oh, what a reunion they all will have. Services for Margaret's homegoing will be held, Tuesday October 16th in Bonner Springs, Ks. at Alden-Harrington Funeral Home, 214 Oak St. Bonner Springs, Ks. Visitation starts at 9:30am and will be followed by the Funeral Services at 11:00am. Burial will be immediately following services, at the Bonner Springs Cemetery.
