Obituary for Margaret Farley

Margaret Farley, age 98, of Shawnee, KS and previously of St. Joseph, MO., passed away on Friday, January 8th, 2021. Rosary Service will be 9:30am, and the Funeral Mass at 10:00am, both at the Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church (5501 Monticello Rd. Shawnee, KS.) Burial will follow in the Resurrection Cemetery in Lenexa, KS. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions to St. Joseph Place, Overland Park, KS., Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Shawnee, KS., or Catholic Charities of Northeast Kansas.

Margaret was born on May 17, 1922 in Kansas City, KS. and was the eldest of four children born to Stephen & Susan Kuzma. Margaret dedicated her life to the service of God. She began her career at Sister’s Hospital in St. Joseph, Missouri in the Emergency Room Intake. She served the underprivileged through the hospital and later in life by providing comfort to the parents of stillborn children and making blankets for the homeless.

Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Francis C. Farley in 2009, her son Patrick in 1997, her grandson Michael Farley in 2017, and her sister Dorothy Massie.

Survivors include her son Mark Farley and wife Kay of Shawnee, KS., and daughter Mary Ann Reid also of Shawnee, KS., four grandchildren: Susan, Megan, Stephen and Patrick. Other survivors include three great-grandchildren: Genevieve, Katie and Mariah and her brother Stephen Kuzma and sister Florence Zatorski, as well as a host of extended family and friends.
