Maggie was born on January 28, 1944 in Carman, Manitoba, Canada to Archibald and Mary (Innes) McEachern. She grew up on her family farm attending a one-room schoolhouse before heading to nursing school. After a short time there, she realized it wasn’t the best fit for someone with a servant’s heart who has an aversion to needles and blood, so she switched gears and got a job working at Great West Life Insurance in Winnipeg. While on a temporary assignment in Kansas City in 1968, she met the love of her life on a blind date. They were married four months later, and Maggie became a stepmother to Doyle’s first daughter.

In 1974 and 1976, they welcomed two more daughters to the world and their family was complete. Maggie stepped away from the workforce to focus on raising the girls. Proficient at sewing, she spent an incalculable number of hours creating dance costumes for the girls’ recitals. She was excellent at accounting and served as PTA Treasurer and softball scorekeeper. She loved cheering on her girls, playing piano, gardening, taking road trips, swimming, and curling. She was a consummate hostess, always polite, generous and kind, a selfless mother, and caregiver to her husband. In her spare time, she read mysteries and romance novels, did the New York Times crossword, jigsaw and sudoku puzzles. She loved cheering for the Jayhawks, Royals and the Chiefs, though she was a Brett Favre fan, too.

Maggie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 50 years, Doyle Duncanson; and her brothers, Eldon and Jack McEachern.

She is survived by her daughters: Denise Atagi (Tui) of Blue Springs, MO, Jennifer Barr of Lenexa, KS and Janine Tilly (Kyle) of St. Louis, MO; grandchildren: Samantha, Riley and Robert Barr, and Mattthew and Miles Tilly; siblings: Marilyn Crooks of Winnipeg, Manitoba, and brother, Malcolm McEachern (Kathy) of Carman, Manitoba; and many nieces and nephews.
