Obituary for Laurie Allison Aytes

Laurie A. Aytes, 63, of Bonner Springs, KS went home to be with Jesus on Monday, August 16th, 2021at her home. A Celebration of Life and Visitation will be at 1:00 pm, on Saturday, Sept. 4th 2021 at the Faith Builders International Church 8390 Peoria St. De Soto, KS 66018. The family suggests memorial contributions to her son Dave Smart. Laurie was born on Jan. 10, 1958 in Bisbee, AZ, she moved to Carterville, MO where her mother and grandma ran a small cafe known as the Shamrock Cafe. She was a member of the Webb City Redettes and choir in High School. She graduated from Webb City High School in 1976 and then attended nursing school where she became a LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse). She worked at St. Luke's Nursing Center in Carthage, MO for many years before moving on to be the nurse at Lazy Boy. Laurie was a survivor of the May 22nd, 2011 Joplin tornado. After that is when she moved to Bonner Springs, KS where she lived with her son Dave Smart for around 5 years before renting her own home. Laurie enjoyed reading every day. Many times Dave would give her a book he just bought to let her read first because he knew he would have it back in a couple of days. She also enjoyed listening to music, spending time with her family especially her grandchildren and seeing her two sons becoming the men that they are today. She enjoyed watching her sons excel in sports and in life. Laurie always put her family first even if it was above her personal needs and was an animal lover. Laurie was preceded in death by her parents and is survived by her two sons Ryan Smart and his wife Stephanie; and David Smart and his wife Michelle. Six grandchildren Olivia and Emily Smart, Brandon Peorora, Starr, Daisy and Ryleigh Smart
